Gracie and I are off to Louisiana tomorrow for my cousin Brett's wedding!!!!!! It's sure to be a good time......with all 800 people invited! Yes, you heard me right......800 people. I've been way overdue for a good ole' Cajun wedding. My dad is one of ten and Brett's father is his brother. I can't wait to see all of my family......some that I haven't seen since we moved to Atlanta. The Bernards are known for dancing and having a good time, so I know I won't be disappointed. I'm sure there will be lots of Gumbo, Jambalaya and drinks to be enjoyed. I'll try to take lots of pictures! Some Cajun wedding traditions that most other cultures don't enjoy are......
** The Money Dance - Guests line up to dance with the bride and groom. In order to get a dance, the guest must pin money to the bride's veil or dress or the groom's tux/suit. The longer the song, the better!!!!
** The Broom Dance - If there is an older brother or sister that is not married, they must dance by themselves with an old broom or mop. It signifies that their brother or sister has "beat them to the altar". The broom or mop is decorated to represent the missing partner of the brother or sister.
